If Phantom Wallet is not connecting to your Ledger, the problem is usually caused by outdated firmware, disabled signing settings, blocked browser permissions, or browser compatibility issues. In most cases, you can fix it in just a few minutes without putting your funds at risk. For more wallet guides and troubleshooting articles, visit our Crypto Help Center.

Quick Fix

  1. Close Ledger Live completely.
  2. Use Chrome or Brave instead of Firefox.
  3. Open the correct app on your Ledger and enable Blind signing.
  4. In Phantom, go to Profile avatarAdd AccountConnect Hardware Wallet.
  5. Approve the browser device-access prompt and click Connect.
  6. If it still does not work, update Ledger Live, Ledger firmware, and the Solana or Ethereum app, then try again.

Detailed Steps

1) Update Ledger Live and Firmware

Open Ledger Live and go to My Ledger. Check for updates for both your device firmware and the app you use most, such as Solana or Ethereum. Install all available updates, then fully close Ledger Live before trying to reconnect Phantom. If Ledger Live stays open in the background, it can interfere with Phantom’s connection flow.

2) Enable Blind Signing

On your Ledger device, open the app for the network you want to use. For Solana, go to SettingsEnable blind signing and switch it on. For Ethereum, open SettingsEnable blind transaction signing. If this setting is disabled, Phantom may fail to connect or may not be able to complete transaction requests.

3) Check Browser Permissions

Phantom connects to Ledger through your browser, so device permissions matter. Open Phantom and go to Profile avatarAdd AccountConnect Hardware Wallet. When the browser shows the device selection prompt, choose your Ledger and click Connect. If you previously denied access, clear the blocked permission and repeat the process.

4) Use a Supported Browser

If you are trying to connect Ledger to Phantom on Firefox, switch to Chrome or Brave. Browser compatibility is one of the most common reasons the connection fails even when the Ledger device is working correctly. For more updates on wallet tools and ecosystem changes, check our Crypto Trends page.

FAQ

Why is this happening?

This usually happens because Blind signing is turned off, the wrong Ledger app is open, browser permissions were denied, or Ledger Live is still running in the background. Browser compatibility can also be the cause.

Is my crypto safe?

Yes, in a normal connection issue your crypto is typically safe. Your private keys remain on the Ledger device, and a failed Phantom connection does not expose your recovery phrase or private keys.

What if it still does not work?

Remove the Ledger account from Phantom and add it again using Add AccountConnect Hardware Wallet. Then try a different USB cable or USB port, make sure firmware is updated, and test again in Chrome or Brave. If the issue continues, contact Phantom Support or Ledger Support through their official help centers.
